"Thank you" to our sailors deployed!

Everyone:

As some of you know and some of you don't. My good friend & Co-Founder of "On Course" is an actvie duty 22 year veteran Line Officer in the United States Navy.  LCDR Edgar Monge is the Combat Systems Officer on the Navy Crusier USS San Jacinto. Currently they are on deployment. Below is an email from his ship on recent events that they have been dealing with.

LCDR Edgar and his shipmates deserve a sincere "Thank you" for dedicating their service to this country while serving on the high seas. I'm proud to have friends like these and I've known Edgar all of my adult life, and I can only say this for one person. He's 100%! Some may talk the talk, but this cat can "Talk the Talk & Walk the Walk" If he says it, go a head and take it to the bank and "Cash" it. Period!

Keep "Giving them hell men"! There's gonna be one hell of a "Fishing Trip" when you get home!

Please feel free to post any messages you would like for Edgar to receive right here on this board. He's been underway "Standing the Watch" for us for several months now and I know he would love to hear from you!

Thank you....Capt. Scott

Subject: FW: Press Release: Twice In One Week, USS San Jacinto Disrupts
Piracy Off Somalia Coast

Team San Jacinto, the attached article was just released about our
recent adventures. Several crew members were interviewed by WAVY and
WVEC and San Jac will be on the news at home tonight - TUNE IN!

Twice In One Week, USS San Jacinto Disrupts Piracy Off Somalia Coast By
Lt. j.g. Kyra D. Lassiter, USS San Jacinto Public Affairs

GULF OF ADEN - USS San Jacinto (CG 56) disrupted nine Somali pirates
from attacking a Maltese-flagged motor vessel May 31, bringing the
cruiser's weekly total to 22 pirates interdicted.

USS San Jacinto responded to a distress call from the M/V Avenue Beauty,
which was transiting 90 miles north of Somalia when she reported that
she was under attack by pirates. Upon hearing gun shots, the vessels
master sounded the general alarm and directed the crew to execute
counter-piracy measures which caused the pirate skiff to call off their
attack and speed away.

USS San Jacinto quickly responded to the attack and followed the pirate
skiff with her helicopter, Proud Warrior 433. Aboard the aircraft,
Aviation Warfare Systems Operator 2nd Class Casey Halliwell tracked the
pirate skiff on radar as it headed south toward the Somali coast at a
high rate of speed.
The skiff, with nine pirates aboard, failed to comply with Proud
Warrior's order to stop. Aviation Warfare Systems Operator 2nd Class
Corey Whittle fired warning shots across the bow and stern of the skiff,
compelling the pirates to stop their vessel.

In the early morning of June 1, USS San Jacinto sent a boarding team
with U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment and USS San Jacinto
Sailors to the pirate skiff. The boarding team quickly took control of
the vessel and searched the skiff and pirates, who had previously thrown
their weapons, ammunition, and pirate paraphernalia overboard. The
pirates were released in the skiff after the boarding team confiscated
one engine and several gallons of fuel, ensuring they could reach shore
while limiting their ability to continue piracy attempts.

Earlier in the month (May 26), USS San Jacinto rescued five Yemeni
mariners from 13 Somali pirates, while conducting routine counter
narcotics operations 68 miles southeast of Ras Fartak, Yemen. The
pirates were turned over to Yemeni Naval Forces.

U.S. forces conduct Maritime Security Operations (MSO) to help set the
conditions for security in the maritime environment. From security
arises stability that results in global economic prosperity. MSO
complements the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional
nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime
environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or
other material.

Give em hell boys!! And a sincere "Thank you" for your service to this country!

Epic Chesapeake Bay Striper Carnage

If your not into Killing, Grilling, Frying, or Catching Striped Bass...READ NO FURTHER! LOG OFF! DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THREW THIS ANY FURTHER!

I had a trip with one of the Owners of G&H Offshore Lure Co. last night. Phil came up from NC to see what "Light Tackle" action was like with "On Course". We left the dock at 6pm to a stiff SE wind. We make it to the grounds and its too ruff to fish my "Favorite Spots" so I have to go to plan B. Along with us is my 1st mate CAPT Green and his son home from the Marine Corp. They get warmed up on a few schoolies and just as the sun peeks under the horizon I inch the nose of the "Kaylyn" into the edge of one of my holes. The seas are kickin so I asked them if they could handle it. "Oh Yeah" was what came out of the pit. So I put the boat into the waves and the Furuno lights up. We are in 50' of water and it says were are in 10. The fish are stacked. Capt. Green's drags starts screaming and "FISH ON". 1st 38" in the boat. Then 10 times after that Capt. Green wears them out. I tell the other two to "Man Up" and they hook up.

Mason gets a 36". Then Phils Penn lights up like the 4th of July. He fights the fish to the boat after 15mins and as the fish comes to the surface I see what looks like a 5 gallon bucket coming out of the water. Mason yells its too big for the net. Mind you I have the biggest net on the market. The fish does a head shake and..Well you know what happens. Phil says "Man there is some big fish here Scott".

A few minutes of tears and they are back at it. Then again, the penn lights up. This time they are on their "A" game. 42" Stud on the deck. Phil is redeemed. We work this school till the seas are becoming way too much!! 3-5's and  then I tell them one more pass. Immediate hookup 40" to END GAME!

"Opening Day" Spring "Trophy" Striped Bass Season

Let the smile on their faces tell the story!

These four young men were rewarded a day of Striped Bass Fishing from their parents and they came, they saw & they "Wooped up" on them. This was a first time saltwater trip for the crew and the boys made us proud. We started out dropping live bait to the spring striper and found out they just wanted something else. So we broke out our "Famous Secret" weapon and the fish were on. For two hours straight the boys wore their arms out! Then the "Snack Bar " as the boys called it "Opened" and they worked over several bags of various fishing "Rejuvinating" power aides and they were back at it. It's amazing how fast, beef jerkey, pringles, and several gallons of power drinks four young men can put away! Boys I'm still impressed. Then after they reloaded it was off to pound the bottom for "Spring Flounder". We went to a few of our favorite "Honey Holes" and the boys commenced "Carpet Bombing" the bottom to find like "Bin Laden" nobody home.

As the water temps rise the fishing is only going to get better! Red & Black Drum are here and the flounder bite will only improve as spring advances.

If your looking for a way to reward the kids or the kid in your self, give us a call we just might be able to put a smile on your face like these "Fine Young Men".

See you on the water!

Capt. Scott

Chesapeake Bay "Spring Fishing"!

Anglers:

The Chesapeake Bay has come back to life. This last week, I had a few trips booked with the "Blakes". 1st time Saltwater Anglers and they wanted "Action".

So we set sail for the Eastern Shore around Fishermans Island looking for the "Running of the Bulls". And we found them. As soon as the anchor hit the bottom, it must have sounded the dinner bell. First line hit's the bottom with a Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab attached and it's "Game On". The Tld lets out a high pitched scream and the T. Blake loads up for the fight. Keep in mind this is the young lads 1st trip in Salt and he hooks and lands his first " 48" Bull Red Drum". The fish was carefully released "Unharmed". Due to an aching "Tennis Elbow" it was all I could do to move the beautiful red around to measure him. After that we decided to pound the bottom around the high rise for some "Fat Spring Flounder". Nothing home and the tide was never right.

Day two they wanted "Meat" so we loaded up the "Tog" gear and to the Islands we went. 1st boat to our favorite spot and none stop action all morning! Loaded the coffin and gained our limit. While we were pulling anchor we noticed the bird activity off the beach was picking up, so I figured "Schoolie Blue Fish or Striper" let's go investigate. Trolled some small gear threw the loads of birds and bait and Nada..Nothing...Ziltch..Zero. I can't figure this out the & Furuno never lies. So I dropped a fish finder rig down on the bait balls and "Bam"..."Bam"...."Bam". Speckled trout, then a small Striper, then a few Croaker, then a few under sized Flounder! Amazing the variety of fish in this mahem! Gulls, Pelligans and Gannets tearing it up. We stayed until the crew, was wore out, then packed it up for a successful end to a wondeful two days of action.

Right now as the water temps are warming the variety of fish, moving into the bay is incredible. Next week the "Spring Trophy" Striper Season opens back up. Before long the Cobia will be moving back along with Spanish Mackeral, Spade Fish, and Blue Fish. A few reports of Black Drum are mixed in on the Eastern Shore along with the "Bull Reds". This just a few reasons why Va. Beach & The Chesapeake Bay is a highly desired "Sportfishing Destination".

If you want some "Chesapeake Bay"~ Va. Beach action give me a call while space is still left. Stay Tuned for upcoming "Open Boat" trips as
well.

Tight Lines & See you on the Water!

Capt. Scott

Spring is "Here". Va. Beach ~ Chesapeake Bay Fishing

I'm happy to announce that "Spring" is finally here on the Chesapeake Bay.. We have had one heck of a winter and its offically in the books now. The "Tog" or as my dear friends in the north call them "Blackfish" are hungry, willing and able.We started out with trips this past Thursday thru Sunday and worked them over. The bait of choice was "fiddler" crabs. Fresh blue crabs worked but the "Fiddlers" were the bait of choice. I have attached a pic of a young man and a fat "Football" tog that he landed. Saturday afternoon, myself and 1st mate Capt. Green decided to slip back out after our charter and catch some fresh fish for dinner. Immediate limit was reached and he called ahead to have the grease hot and the drinks cold. Not a better way to "Welcome" in the Spring besides fresh "Tog" and Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs. If your looking to get out of the house, give us a call and come and "Enjoy" fishing Va Beach & the Chesapeake Bay in the spring.
